2020-2021 5th GRADE NEWS AND IMPORTANT DATES

5th Grade Parents!

As we approach the mid-year point of our 5th graders last year of elementary school, your 5th planning committee wanted to update you on the latest items underway for the school year.  From our last email, traditionally a  number of fundraisers take place to provide 5th grade students with their 5th Grade  t-shirt, DVD keepsake, a beautiful graduation ceremony, and a fun-filled end-of-year (EOY) party.  While this is a unique year and learning is different for each family, your 5th Grade Committee is dedicated to make this year just as memorable.  Here’s a closer look at what we have been working on and what each family can do to help support:

5TH GRADE SPIRIT T-SHIRTS:  The  5th T-Shirt contest has completed. Ms. Perez selected the five finalist and the entire 5th class voted on the winner which is  Sunny Cruz – ‘The Future Awaits’ design. The design will be printed on the front, the back will include each 5th grader’s name, and the sleeve will include our title sponsor(s). 

ALL 5th Graders will receive a shirt as part of their 5th Grade items. Shirt design and order forms are being prepared where each family will have the opportunity to purchase additional shirts for Mom, Dad, siblings, Grandparents, and even extras for the students.  Stay tuned for order forms and additional details in December!

FUNDRAISING:  

In prior years, most of the 5th Grade activities were funded by fundraisers, given the circumstances we are unable to do our two largest fundraisers:

• Cold Stone ice cream was sold during lunch hours  – Covered 60-75% of our gross funds for 5th Grade
• Family Fun Nights – Covered 10-15% of our 5th Grade Funds

How are we to make up for an unavoidable  70-85% LOSS for our students 5th Grade year? We need every family to help by participating in this year’s  fundraisers, obtaining 5th Sponsors, and/or donating. Details below: 

 

• • Our first fundraiser starts on 11/30-12/15 – Papa John Coupon Cards – 
    • $10.00 Each provides a 50% entire order – redeemable for 18 orders!
    • Pre Orders only – Cards will be distributed be following the holiday break

• Share the link where everyone can purchase their card: Purchase Online at https://bit.ly/LMEPTAPapaJohns

• Brick and Mortar Students will be given a package and eLearners can pick a package up at the front office (if needed) or print from their teachers Canvas

• Our Goal is for each 5th Grade student to sell 5 cards each

• 5th Grade Family donations or Company sponsorships – This is open to families who want to donate or companies who want to obtain sponsorship with company recognition throughout our 5th activities.
  • Family donations are open to any dollar amount 
  • 5th Grade Corporate Sponsors Packages include logo on DVD, Printed 5th Grade Graduation material, 5th Grade NewsLetters, etc. 
    • Title Sponsorships are available!

• Donations for events and EOY gift bags-  Help is needed to search out local companies to donate items or services to fill these bags.  We are also looking for a donation of breakfast for 5th grade on the last day of school.
• Candy Grams for Valentine’s Day and Winter Holidays – Holiday Grams will be for Brick and Mortar students only. Historically covers 10-15% of gross funds for 5th Grade
  • Assistance is needed to distribute order forms, assemble, and deliver orders.  

CLASS PHOTO and DVD KEEPSAKE:  Included in each child’s EOY gift bag is an entire 5th Grade Clsss DVD compilation of pictures and music. Pictures are collected throughout the year and parents provide additional images of their child from years gone by.  In addition to the DVD, this year we will be doing our class picture as a mosaic from the students Kindergarten, 5th Grade, and 5th Grade Selfie/Individual T-shirt photo. 

Start now by sending your students photos with their First Name, Last Name, and Teacher as the email subject:

1. 5th Grade, 
2. Kindergarten 
3. Any picture taken throughout the years at LME events with the 5th graders in it. 
4. 5th T-Shirt selfie/individual picture  – Can be sent separately once the shirts are distributed where we ask that each student take an individual/selfie of them in the 5th grade shirt.
