READ-A-THON WAS A SUPER STAR EVENT!

For two weeks in October, every single student and teacher at Lake Magdalene was participating in a marathon reading program.  I am proud to tell you that 100% of our students, 931 and 56 teachers all participated in the Read-A-Thon!  This was our 5th year of reading and we are proud to announce that students and teachers again raised over $11,000.  All of this money will be used at Lake Magdalene and 50% of it wil directly be used by the teachers in their classrooms.  On October 28 we all celebrated our success at the Storybook Parade and Read-A-Thon Awards Assembly.

Congratulations to Ms. Maulak for winning our Top Reading Teacher award this year.  Ms. Manulak was presented with a Nook E-Reader!

A special thank you to Kellie Lightbourn for coming out to our event and celebrating with us!  Also, special thanks to Ginger Gadsden, from Channel 10 News, WTSP, for helping to arrange our exclusive behind the scenes tour.  We would like to extend special recognition to the staff member from Jimmie B. Keel Library for presenting our story at the beginning of the program.
